Deburring, Polishing and Surface Finishing - Extrude Hone Corporation®
Engineering Innovation
Today's advanced computer design software allows engineers and manufacturers to improve the mechanical integrity and overall performance of numerous components with increasingly more complex and intricate designs and geometries. This advanced engineering innovation, however, frequently leads to greater surface finishing challenges and subsequently, increased production times and costs. At Extrude Hone, we continue to solve thousands of complex deburring, edge radiusing, polishing and surface finishing problems for general engineering and other leading industry sectors. Before you spend valuable time trying to design out burrs, contours, sharp edges, or difficult to produce surface finishes from your product or machining process, we likely already possess a reliable, low cost advanced manufacturing solution that’s right for your needs. Partnering with Extrude Hone early in the design or pre-production phase often results in significant production savings and component performance improvements:
Our Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM) process, including MicroFlow™ AFM, and our Electrolytic Machining, Deburring and Polishing (ECM/ECD/ECP) processes, as well as our new Electrolytic Pulse Technology, CoolPulse™, are incredibly efficient, precise, reliable and cost-effective solutions for manufactures of all types and sizes.
In fact, our AFM and ECM processes are enabling CNC lathe and machining center operators the ability to reduce production time by up to 30 percent through increased cutting feeds and speeds. While this reduction seemingly results in less than perfect surface finishes and increased likelihood of burrs during machining operations, it does permit, however, our AFM and ECM processes to do what they does best: final finishing of components off-line on less expensive and more efficient Extrude Hone equipment. Rough surface finishes as high as 125-250 micro inch can quickly and easily be brought down to specifications as low as 8 micro inch Ra on an AFM machine and 4 micro inch or less on an ECM machine. It is worth mentioning that each of these processes are normally faster and lower in cost than either single-point turning, milling or grinding.
